prices apply) workshops, outreaches and loans boxes for schools.
In July 2007 Geevor was awarded the Sandford award for Heritage
Education, an endorsement of the quality of service that we

Workshops
For all the following workshops, we encourage
a free pre-site visit, and outreach session and would encourage
you to make use of our loans boxes when available. All of the
following workshops include a guided tour of underground and
surface buildings, as well as hand drilling and other hands-on
activities.

The Big Book Early years
Brand new workshop (Introductory site admission of £2
per student until end of Dec 2008)
Through our specially designed Big Book entitled
“Basil And Scraggs Go Underground At Geevor” students
are introduced to the themes of Cornish mining.
Light and Dark Early Years and KS1
An introduction to mining history exploring
light sources used underground.
Art Attack Early Years and KS1
An art attack style workshop creating the Geevor
head-frame using recycled industrial materials.
Early Mining KS1 and KS2
Examines the role that children, men and women
had in mining and how it affected their lives.
Experiments with rocks KS1 and KS2
Uses hands-on activities to explore the journey
from rock to tin product examining rocks, metals and tools on
the way.

For further and higher educational institutions
we organise bespoke packages to
assist you in accessing Geevor to your best advantage. Popular
visits we have helped
organise include Geography, Geology, Archaeology, History and
Heritage, which can take the form of field trips, research projects
and ice breakers for first year undergraduates.
